Worry stones are used to relieve worry and stress. Many shops sell special stones with an indent on one side where a person can rub their thumb and focus on positive thoughts. However, it's very easy to make your own worry stone!

How to make your own worry stone

Making your own worry stone is easy, and possibly even more effective than buying one at a store! Read on to find out how to make your own worry stone.

  • Go on a nature walk at a forest, park, or beach. When you are on the nature walk, bring attention to the way the air smells and feels. Listen to the soothing noises of birds or the wind in the trees. Take some deep breaths and close your eyes, locking the image of this nature walk in your mind.

  • Look around for a good stone. It should be small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

  • Once you find a good stone, hold it in your hand and take in your surroundings, again making an effort to notice the sights, smells, and sounds of nature.

  • Return home with your stone. If you'd like, you can decorate it with paints or markers.

  • Keep the stone nearby so that you can hold it in your palm whenever you feel worried or stressed. Run your fingers along the stone and take some deep breaths, letting your mind go back to that place in nature and how it felt, smelled, and sounded.
